What the papers say

The Times of September 9 labels the Campaign for Genuine Self-Determination “extreme nationalist”. According to this quality newspaper, the CGSD “urges supporters to boycott the rigid [sic] referendum” and “demand a parliament with real powers to introduce socialist policies”. It claims that “the CPGB has fewer than 1,000 members in Scotland”.

Bourgeois commentators could hardly be expected to understand that our boycott of Blair’s rigged referendum has nothing at all to do with nationalism, but with demanding genuine self-determination, based on unity with England and Wales through a federal republic.

Neither do we have any illusions in the possibility of parliament - whether in Westminster or Edinburgh - ‘introducing’ socialism, which can only be achieved through workers’ own self-activity on a global scale.
