Accelerate!

Robbie Rix reports on the Weekly Worker fighting fund

Following the disappointment of falling far short of our £2,250 fighting fund target for October, I was hoping that we would really start to make amends this week.

But, unfortunately, that’s not been the case. Despite some really useful donations, I’m afraid only £260 came our way over the last seven days - in other words, about half the going rate, if we’re to get home in November. Our running total now stands at only £437, with almost a third of the month gone.

Despite my disappointment, let me express my heartfelt thanks to the comrades who contributed this week. The most generous was AC, with his excellent £60 bank transfer, followed by BO (£35), CG and NH (£30 each), GD, NR and DV (£25), RG (£15) and SM (£10). All those contributions were either bank transfers or standing orders and, in addition to them, there was a fiver handed to one of the Weekly Worker team from someone whose name will now be familiar to many - comrade Hassan!

But now we really do need to hit the accelerator. Don’t forget, not only do we need to reach that £2,250 November target, but we need to eat into that October deficit of £294 too! Please help us out by sending us a cheque or making a donation by PayPal or credit card via our website: weeklyworker.co.uk/worker/donate.

Or, of course, you can follow the lead of all this week’s contributors by making a bank transfer. Make the payment to ‘Weekly Worker’ (sort code 30-99-64, account number 00744310). Better still, set up a standing order!

Comrades, we rely on your donations, so please help us get home this month!
