Left opposes SLP witch hunt

Press release

The Revolutionary Platform of the Socialist Labour Party recently sponsored a meeting of the London SLP left to consider our response to the ongoing witch hunt in the party.

The meeting heard reports by SLP members from all London branches. Overall, the meeting felt a united response by all democratic elements in the party was the best way forward to prevent the SLP being treated as the property of this or that particular trend.

Concretely, the meeting passed action resolutions to campaign against the witch hunt. These involved proposals for a democratic appeals process, the re-instatement of anyone ‘excluded’ from SLP membership and the alteration of the party constitution.

Although well attended, there was still an uneven representation of the SLP left from the London branches.

The meeting felt that it was vital for further meetings to make the unity of the left a priority.
