THE MURDER on Tuesday morning of Gino Gallagher, national organiser of the Irish Republican Socialist Party, brutally exposed the hollow nature of the ‘peace’ process in the Six Counties.

An IRSP statement declared Gallagher to be “a tireless fighter in the revolutionary struggle for national liberation and socialism”, and went on to say that those responsible for his murder would be “tracked down”. It angrily condemned the vicious lie that the comrade’s death was the result of an “internal feud”.

Prisoners in Portlaoise Jail said that Gino had been struck down to “stymie the re-emergence of a revolutionary socialist alternative based on class struggle”.

Their statement added: “Regardless of who pulled the trigger to murder our dear comrade, we clearly identify the hand of British imperialism as the instigator, orchestrator and facilitator of Gino’s murder.”
