Linda Addison reports on the Weekly Worker fighting fund

With just two weeks to go before Blair’s rigged referendum for a sop parliament in Scotland, CPGB comrades are busy developing the Campaign for Genuine Self-Determination. Leading comrades and journalists for the Weekly Worker will be travelling up to Scotland to ensure the campaign has maximum effect.

Several stunts have already been staged and a series of discussion meetings is organised for the run-up to the referendum. The media has gone all out behind Blair’s sop, to the extent of going overboard with praise for Mandelson’s jaunt across the border. Nevertheless the campaign has had an impact in Scotland as the only campaign willing to discuss the ramifications of instituting a sop parliament. As you will have read in previous issues, it has also had an effect on Scottish Militant Labour and the Scottish Socialist Alliance, which are campaigning along with the whole of the establishment for a double ‘yes’ vote.

Thus support for the paper from our readership is essential so it can have the maximum impact in the lead-up and aftermath of the referendum.
