Shortfall
Some disappointing news to start with: we fell rather short of the Weekly Worker’s monthly fighting fund target of £2,750 in August.
As I reported last week, we needed £400 with five days still to go, and I was pretty confident that we’d get there. But, unfortunately, a mere £178 came our way in those five days, taking the total for the month up to £2,535 - in other words, a shortfall of £215. Not a disaster, but still problematic.
Our best thanks go to the comrades who contributed in those last five days: JT and BK (£25 each), AB (£20), JM (£15), MD and JD (£10), KA (£8) and AR (£5) all contributed by bank transfer/standing order, while comrades DB (£50) and AC (£5) clicked on that PayPal button, and comrade Hassan handed his usual £5 note to one of our team.
So now we really must make up for that shortfall in September. And things have started reasonably well, with £296 received in just two days! Thanks, this time, to comrades LC and BO (£50 each), MM (£31), ST (£30), MS (£25), DL and MT (£20), CP (£16), AN (£15), MR (£13), MM (£11), and DI and JD (£10), for your transfers/SOs, plus TM for his £5 PayPal donation.
The question is now, though, can we keep up that useful start to the month? We need not only to make up for last month’s shortfall, but also make up ground for the two months earlier in the year when we were also short of target. Please play your part in ensuring that the only weekly paper in Britain that campaigns for a single, principled, genuinely democratic-centralist Marxist party can continue to play its vital role!
