As we near the halfway point in this year’s Summer Offensive fundraising drive, the total received at Centre is now really beginning to accelerate. Last week alone saw an extra £2,600, as comrades are at last starting to get results from all their earlier preparations.

Without wishing to blow our own trumpet, comrades working around the Weekly Worker have now reached 41% of our team target - and that figure is rising fast! We now aim to surpass our original total by the middle of next month.

This is not just a question of pride in a job well done: it is essential if the overall Party target of £25,000 is to be met by the end of June. The total that comrades have pledged to date is still just short of £5,000 below what we need, so the difference will have to be made up by a combination of drawing in new contributors and, where possible, upping the individual targets of those already participating.

Congratulations this week to comrades in Brent who raised £230 from their street stall. Special thanks also to SJ in Leicester and DW in Kent (£50 each). The total now in hand is £5,736.
