Six days left

Robbie Rix reports on the Weekly Worker fighting fund

Possibly I was a little pessimistic last week, when I thought that perhaps we had gone “into reverse” after the lowest weekly total received for the fighting fund in years.

But, after the last seven days, things are looking so much better - no less than £945 has come our way, shooting the total for the month up to a tremendous £1,681. That means we’ve now got six days left to raise the £569 we still need if we’re going to reach our monthly target of £2,250. That’s definitely on the cards!

But, for that to happen, we need a repeat of the kind of fantastic support and commitment we’ve just seen. Over the last week no fewer than five comrades donated a three-figure amount - our thanks go to KB, PM, GB, SK and JC. Brilliant stuff, comrades! Other smaller - but no less appreciated - donations came in the shape of bank transfers or standing orders from MM (£75), TR (£40), DR (£20) and SS (£15), while TH contributed his £50 via PayPal and LM handed her £20 note to our editor.

So now we have to make sure we build on this fantastic week for the fighting fund and raise that remaining £569 (or more!) by Wednesday February 28. Please make your donations online if you can to make sure we get them in time. Either make a bank transfer to ‘Weekly Worker’ (sort code 30-99-64, account number 00744310) or go to weeklyworker.co.uk/worker/donate, where you can do your bit either by PayPal or using your credit/debit card.

Please help us get the monthly total we need to keep this paper running - and improving!
