Play your part

Robbie Rix reports on the Weekly Worker fighting fund

After the first eight days of the month, February’s fighting fund running total stands at £515, thanks to the £360 that came our way over the last week.

Let me mention first of all comrade CG, who, for the third week in a row, sent us a cheque - this time for an excellent £40. And that was received just before his monthly standing order of £30 landed in our account. Brilliant stuff, comrade!

Most of the other donations we received came in the shape of standing orders or bank transfers - our thanks to comrades AC (£60), AW (£50), BO (£35), HN (£30), NR, GD and DV (£25 each), RG (£15) and SM (£10). Then there was a single contribution via PayPal for £10 from MH, while comrade Hassan came up with his usual banknote - this time for a fiver.

All good stuff. But let me remind readers that we need to raise no less than £2,250 every month, so we’re a tad under the going rate, as this is February and, as I write, more than a quarter of the month has already gone. That means we now need to pick up the pace, so please play your part if you can.

As most donors have discovered, a bank transfer is the most efficient and speedy way, especially if you have an online account. Make your payment to ‘Weekly Worker’ at sort code 30-99-64, account number 00744310. Or else you can use PayPal - go to weeklyworker.co.uk/worker/donate, where you can also use your debit or credit card, if you prefer.

And, of course, we still get not a few cheques, so, if you want to write us one, please feel free! We now need £1,735 in less than three weeks if we’re to reach that target - which we really need to do, as we did last month, to make up for the large deficit at the end of 2022.

Please do your bit in helping to fund the only paper that argues for a single, genuinely democratic Marxist party, based on the need for open debate!
