POOR OLD MPs. ‘Our’ downtrodden and exploited representatives in the mother of all parliaments feel they are getting a bum deal. Why? Simple - MPs’ ‘basic’ pay of £33,000 is clearly not enough for any hard working member of the bourgeoisie to live on.
A cross-party group of 230 MPs is ‘suggesting’ to the Nolan Committee that their pay should be doubled (sounds only reasonable) and ministers’ salaries trebled. After all, it is hardly surprising that some MPs fall by the wayside and take to ‘consultancy’ work when you consider the subsistence income they have to survive on. Private education and medicine does not come cheap, you know.
