Hunger strikers weaken

Two IRSP prisoners are now seriously ill in Irish military hospitals. Michael McCartney, who has been refusing food since August 6, and Paddy Walls, who joined him a week later, are protesting against the Irish government’s discrimination against IRSP prisoners. So far only IRA members have benefited from early release.

IRSP prisons spokesperson Gino Gallagher said:

“I appeal to all those who purport to be interested in human rights and civil liberties to let their voices be heard now. Silence on this issue means allowing Nora Owens [Irish ‘justice’ minister] to murder these men.”
