Commitment

Our campaign to raise an extra £500 a month is already bearing fruit.

Over the past week we have received extra standing orders totalling no less than £121 a month - and that is before we have really got going. But our readers understand that raising £1,000 per month is an absolute necessity for the continuation and further development of the Weekly Worker in its present print format.

Our old Komori press is dead and a replacement is not on the cards. So we must - and will - raise the necessary extra funds to pay for commercial printing.

The following standing order commitments have come in over the last seven days: from Campaign for a Marxist Party partisans YM and CG, £40 and £20 respectively; from CPGB comrade MM, £20 and PM of the Revolutionary Democratic Group, £10; CPGB supporter NJ has sent in a new standing order for £12, while GD has replaced his £25 quarterly SO with a monthly one for £17 (a gain of £9 by my calculation); finally reader RH has committed himself to £10.

We now have £156 in additional standing orders in just three weeks!

However, that is not all. We not only need standing orders if we are going to reach our new target. There are still the one-offs. And our appeal has yielded results here too - this week comrade TG provided us with a tremendous £100. Then there is comrade JP, who donated a rather more modest £3. It all helps! JP made his donation via our online PayPal facility, by the way. He was one of 25,492 visitors last week.

Our February fund - including both SOs and one-offs - stands at £259. But, don’t forget, the target is now £1,000. How far will we get by the end of the month?
