And

Waterson under the bridge

It appears our anarchist comrades in the Class War Federation have had a little too much of the Bulmer's cider. As I reported last week, the latest issue of Class War claims that the SWP has given comrade Julie Waterson the elbow due to "serious financial problems".

Unlikely, I mused. Comrade Waterson has made clear her unhappiness at the nationalism of the Scottish Socialist Party majority. This, rather than any alleged financial worries, would be a more likely cause of any falling out.

It would appear though that Class War did not have the scoop it thought it had - and I have more than a little egg on my face into the bargain. Comrade Waterson is safe, well and happy in the bosom of her comrades, I'm pleased to say.

Mice and men

Scientists have recently discovered that you can extend the lifespan of mice by up to 50% - simply by underfeeding the little creatures. Not only do they live longer; they're also healthier.

Whether they're happier being perpetually hungry is something scientists have yet to discover.

Given this information, can we expect the next government to further reduce welfare benefits - particularly for those in receipt of sickness and disability benefits - in an effort to improve the nation's health?
