Have faith

Ian Farrell reports on the Weekly Worker fighting fund

So poor old Glenn Hoddle has finally got the elbow, after the Football Association inevitably succumbed to the mounting politically correct pressure from the establishment, capped by the intervention of Tony Blair himself. Still, losing your job can have its compensations - for some people at least. The former England coach is rumoured to have picked up a cool half million by way of a goodbye handshake.

Unfortunately the Weekly Worker does not have such an easy source of ready income. We cannot rely on the ‘karma’ to reward us for our political achievements in a past life, but place all our ‘faith’ in our readers and supporters.

Last month’s fund ended with a flourish, with last-minute gifts from IS (£30) and CM (£25). January’s total was a target-busting £488. Already donations from RW (£25), TR (£10) and a young reader, SE (£5), have given this month’s fund a good start. We start February with £74.
