Make up shortfall

Unfortunately, despite some excellent donations that came our way in the past week, we failed by a couple of hundred pounds to reach our monthly fighting fund target of £2,750.

Let’s start with the donations we received. First, the usual batch of standing orders/bank transfers came our way: thanks to comrades JC (a brilliant £176!), JC (£82), RL (£60), MW (£30), BK and JT (£25 each), AB (£20), JM (£15), JD and MD (£10) and AR (£5).

In addition, comrades JB and DB each contributed £50 via PayPal, while AC donated £5, using the same method. Finally, there was that well renowned comrade Hassan, who handed his usual £5 note to one of our team. Well done, everybody!

However, the problem is that, while all of the above came to a handy £568, that took our September total up to just £2,528, leaving us £222 short. Not a disaster, of course, but still problematic, given the very little leeway we have in raising what we need to cover all our costs and expenses.

Just to remind you, printing and postage charges continue to rise, along with internet providers and other such matters. That’s why we really need to make up for this month’s shortfall - as well as similar ones earlier in the year.

I’ll tell you what - let’s see if we can reach £3,000 in October! Can you play your part in ensuring that the Weekly Worker continues to play its essential role in campaigning for what the working class desperately needs - a principled, genuinely democratic Marxist party!
