Principled unity

As I write, there are exactly seven days to go before the end of the month, but, despite some excellent donations over the last seven days, we still need £790 to reach our monthly £2,750 target.

Let’s start with what we’ve just received. Firstly, comrades SK and PM both came up with their usual three-figure monthly contributions, while comrades MM (£75), GB (£25), DR (£20), JL and TT (£10 each) also contributed via standing order or one-off bank transfer. Finally, comrade KS made his usual £50 donation via PayPal, taking our total for the week up to £746, and the running total for September up to £1,960.

But now we have to outdo the week just gone to make sure we get there by September 30. Can you help us? The Weekly Worker depends on your support, especially as we have to face printing and postage prices that continue to soar. We must attain that much-needed £2,750 each and every month. Please donate what you can in whatever way you choose - preferably bank transfer or PayPal, as there’s no delay in receiving your contribution that way.

Let me conclude by quoting comrade LK, who had this to say about last Thursday’s edition of this paper: “What a fantastic letters column this week! It’s genuine, serious debate, with loads of comrades exchanging ideas about where we need to go.”

That’s right - it’s what the Weekly Worker is committed to : “genuine, serious debate”! How else can we Marxists unite within a single, principled party, when right now the left is divided into numerous ‘do it yourself’ sects?!

Help us keep that debate going and - who knows? - one day we’ll actually achieve the unity we need!
