Do the necessary

Robbie Rix reports on the Weekly Worker fighting fund

In stark contrast to the previous week, the last seven days have seen a tremendous increase in donations received from readers and supporters to the Weekly Worker fighting fund. The money that came our way over the last seven days is more than double what we received in the first two weeks of the month!

We do, of course, have to take into account the fact that week three is always the most productive in any month, and March has been no exception. We got no fewer than four three-figure donations - from comrades SK, KB, PM and GB, of which only the last one is not a monthly standing order.

But there were other useful contributions too. Many thanks to MM (£75), TR (£40), DR (£20), SS (£15) and JL (£10), all of whom played their part in lifting our running total up from £759 to a fantastic £1,544. Mind you, our monthly target is £2,250, so we will need much more before March 31 - £706, in fact, in the remaining nine days!

However, the bad news is we’re not expecting anything like the amount we’ve just had in standing orders, so we really do need other comrades - including those who’ve never contributed to the fighting fund before - to help us do the necessary by chipping in.

You can, of course, send us a cheque - but please do that as soon as possible to make sure we receive it before the March 31 deadline. Better though is to use PayPal - go to weeklyworker.co.uk/worker/donate, where you can also make your contribution by credit or debit card.

But best of all is making a bank transfer - there are no fees deducted and we usually receive your donation immediately. Please pay ‘Weekly Worker’ (sort code 30-99-64, account number 00744310).

Let’s see if we can get very near - or even smash through - that £2,250 target by this time next week!
