Below target

Robbie Rix reports on the Weekly Worker fighting fund

While the last five days of October saw £356 donated to the Weekly Worker, unfortunately it was not enough to see us reach our £2,250 fighting fund target. In fact, despite some excellent last-minute contributions, we ended the month with just £1,956 - in other words, £294 short.

Those who did their very best to help us get there included Irish comrade AM, whose payment in euros translated into £67, plus four comrades who donated £50 - DB and TB (both via PayPal), plus BK and JC (bank transfer). Then there were standing orders from MD and JT (£25 each), OG (£14), as well as a tenner from both JM and VP. Finally, comrade Hassan made one of his regular cash donations - this time for £5.

All that came to £356 - not bad for just five days, so thanks very much to everyone. But obviously it left us just under £300 below target.

So now we need to make up for the shortfall in November - I cannot stress enough how much the Weekly Worker relies on such financial support! And in the first two days of the month I’m pleased to say that £177 has come our way. In fact no fewer than 15 comrades chipped in to reach that amount - thanks go to TG (£25), BK and PG (£20), MT (£15), TM (£12), MM (£11), plus CP, GB, AN, YM and DI (£10 each). Finally there were single-figure (but still useful!) contributions from BG (£7), DC and JS (£6) and PBS (£5).

So now we have exactly four weeks left to get the remaining £2,073 we still need for November - and, of course, we must not forget last month’s deficit. Can you help us not only reach the target, but smash right through it?
