Over the line!

Robbie Rix reports on the Weekly Worker fighting fund

As I write, there is just one day remaining for our March fighting fund, but I’m pleased to say that - yes - we’ve already reached our £2,250 target!

To be precise, the total on March 30 stands at £2,265 - in other words, we’ve just scraped over the line by £15. I was, of course, hoping to eat into last month’s £221 deficit a little bit more, but you never know what might come our way on March 31!

Anyway, as usual, the last seven days saw a number of very pleasing donations. Pride of place this time goes to comrade JC for his excellent £70 bank transfer, while three comrades made £50 contributions - EW made one of his generous bank transfers, while JT’s was a monthly standing order and DB’s came via PayPal.

Other standing orders - amongst them from comrades who have increased their payments in response to our recent appeal - came from OG (£25), DG and MW (£20 each), JR and GT (£15). So our running total rose by £315 over the last week.

On top of that a couple of other comrades have just pledged to set up new standing orders. One is KF, who says that the Weekly Worker has been an “eye-opener” since he first came across it late last year. Amongst recent articles, he is particularly impressed with the first two parts of Mike Macnair’s series on ‘Imperialism and the state’. We will carry part three next week, and hopefully comrade Macnair will be able to put the final touches to part four for the week after.

But, as comrade KF points out, the Weekly Worker is “full of all sorts of stimulating stuff, week after week”! No wonder he’s now pledged to help us raise the necessary cash.

Are there any more volunteers out there?
