Self-defence is no offence

Saptal Ram is another victim of British ‘justice’, sentenced in 1987 for life on the charge of murder - despite the fact that he was subjected to a vicious racist assault and killed his attacker in self-defence. His QC grossly misrepresented him, switching Saptal’s defence from self-defence to provocation, thus accepting that Saptal was guilty.

At his trial the judge offered to interpret for a Bengali-speaking witness whose English was poor. Unfortunately, the judge could not speak a word of Bengali. On November 24 last year Saptal lost his appeal. When he was dragged out of court, two of his supporters were assaulted by the police.
