Road to nowhere

THE CRIMINAL Justice Act is being used by local authorities to move new age travellers, irrespective of whether they have anywhere to go. Much to the chagrin of the government, in a recent judgement Judge Stephen Sedley decided that local authorities are not allowed to do this if it means throwing pregnant mothers and young children onto the road. The judge described the act as “draconian”.

Judge Sedley is considered to be slightly to the left. That is, he is not in favour of complete irrationality and also has some regard for a general programme of humanitarianism.

The Tory Party is running foul of quite a large number of the judiciary who are annoyed by its lack of reason and frequent disregard for the ‘rule of law’.

This does not place them on the side of the workers by any means, but it does indicate how much the Tory Party is falling out with the establishment.
