Defend Dave Carr, defend the NHS

DAVE CARR, a Unison branch chairperson and staff nurse at University College Hospital in London, was sacked by management while representing Unison members in their opposition to proposals to multiskill and competitively tender certain services. 400 low paid and many part-time jobs are at risk in the University College of London Hospital Trust.

This is an attack on trade union representation which must be opposed. If managers feel that they can dismiss stewards for effectively carrying out their duties, the very existence of trade unionism is threatened.

Unison is fully backing the demand for Dave Carr to be reinstated and is conducting a ballot of the membership at the trust for industrial action.

Unison London Healthcare Committee is calling on support from all Unison members against this threat to us all.
