Fighting fund

Phil Kent reports on the Weekly Worker fighting fund

LAST WEEK it was revealed that the bosses of Powergen and National Power both pocketed over one million pounds last year. Bosses of privatised utilities have had rises of between 400 and 1,000%, while public sector workers were told to accept 1.5%. Meanwhile Cedric Brown defended his 75% pay increase to the Commons employment select committee.

The lie that all is fair in the market war is fast being eroded. However, until the working class gains confidence in itself through independent organisation, the bosses will continue to stitch us up.

As we went to press this month’s £3,000 fighting fund was in our sights, which is a good beginning for our monthly target launched this year. We have no big pay increases on the horizon for comrades in our organisation. So rush cash in for January and steel yourself for February’s battle.
