Thanks to a last-minute surge, our February fund ended with a fine £1,073. It was boosted by a new standing order of £50 paid by comrade TB - just when we needed it. Thanks, comrade.

In fact SOs received since last week amount to a really useful £169, including £50 from JT, £30 from SM and a number of smaller donations. Through the post we got £60 from comrade TR and £10 was received via PayPal - despite my heartfelt plea for online donations last week, comrade RM was the only taker (or giver, should I say?).

Never mind: a successful month once more, so thank you, one and all - even if, apart from TB, our new drive for extra SOs has not yet borne fruit. We will be contacting hundreds of readers over the next few weeks asking them to commit to a regular monthly donation. But don’t wait to be asked individually. You can help by either filling in the form on the back page of this issue or downloading one from our website.

Last week we had 20,892 online readers, by the way. Let’s hope that in March a good deal more of them will make a contribution to the new fighting fund.
