Fighting fund

Broad appeal

Our fighting fund received help from an unexpected source this week - Plaid Cymru Welsh assembly member Leanne Wood donated a handy £25, which shows the breadth of the Weekly Worker’s appeal.

In fact our May total increased by £165 over the last seven days, with £60 from TR, £20 each from SH and CK, £15 from PR (who added that amount to his subscription to the paper), £10 from both PP and FL, and a fiver from comrade TD. That last gift came via our website - TD was one of 30,035 online readers last week (of whom 1,784 downloaded the whole paper in pdf format).

What about new standing orders? Well, I have received three of four pledges to begin next month, but I have resisted the temptation to add them to the total until I see them on a bank statement. So for the moment, we still have £531 in extra SOs and, including those, our total for May has now reached £781.

But, don’t forget, because of the additional expenditure needed since we went over to commercial printing of the Weekly Worker, we now need to raise £1,000 each and every month. So we have just a week to get £219.

So, comrades, get out your cheque book, write a postal order or, for instant results use the PayPal facility at www.cpgb.org.uk
