Fighting fund

Linda Addison reports on the Weekly Worker fighting fund

Thanks this week to the donation from AM and his proposals for the Summer Offensive.

As well as suggesting a number of festivals, such as the forthcoming TUC ‘Respect’ festival in London, at which the CPGB could intervene and boost the campaign, he also asks why we do not extend the offensive into August.

Fundraising is of course a component and ongoing part of the work of comrades around the CPGB throughout the year. However, we have found that a two-month intensive period puts the struggle into for finance into focus and puts taking the organisation outwards onto the top of every comrade’s agendas.

Everyone around the CPGB has many political tasks, which is why fundraising often can be forgotten. The offensive then is long enough for our supporters to launch themselves into the campaign and for us to raise the ambitious totals we need achieve our goals without it interfering unduly with other work.

Naturally that is why the summer is a good time. This also gives me an opportunity to publicise our forthcoming school. This, as advertised on the front page, begins at the end of July. After the Summer Offensive comrades will be sunk into study and preparation for this other central annual event.
