Keep them coming

Let me start by reminding readers that the Weekly Worker is about to begin its two-week summer break. In other words, there will be no issue published on August 13 or 20 and the next edition will be on Thursday August 27.

In the meantime, please feel free to join us at Communist University (August 8-15) in central London - you can also attend online. For more details, please go to www.communistuniversity.uk, where you will find information about booking your place at the venue, as well as how you can join in the CU debate via the internet.

Following this issue, of course, there will be no update from me on our fighting fund until three weeks time, so here are the latest details. First of all, it’s disappointing to report that, very unusually, no donations at all were received in the last two days of July - not a disaster, because we had already narrowly exceeded the monthly £2,750 target, so last week’s £2,808 was the final figure.

Quite a contrast with the first five days of August - a very handy £628 has already come our way! Thanks very much to comrades MM, AC and TB in particular for their brilliant three-figure contributions, as well as the more modest, but very welcome, donations from comrades LC and BO (£50 each), MM (£31), CG (£30), RG (£25), DL and MT (£20), CP (£16), AN (£15), RM (£13), RP (£12), MM (£11), DI (£10) and BG (£5).

All the above were donated via bank transfer or standing order, while we also received £5 each from comrades TM and JN (PayPal), plus comrade Hassan (cash).

We hope things go well for all our readers and supporters over the rest of August, and that you keep those donations coming in. Thanks to you, the Weekly Worker is able to continue playing its essential role. I’ll let you know how things stand in three weeks time!
