Vital role
Robbie Rix reports on the Weekly Worker fighting fund
Let me start this week’s report with something a little bit unusual - not a new regular donation to the Weekly Worker fighting fund, but the opposite: its cancellation.
The reason why I want to highlight this is because comrade SB, who has been contributing no less than £50 each and every month for well over a year, has had to cancel this - for his own financial reasons, I believe. But what a fantastic commitment! And how much it has been very welcome this end. After all, if just 45 comrades made such a monthly contribution, that would be enough to see us home and reach our £2,250 target.
The reality is, of course, that we receive a good deal more than 45 individual donations each month, but the majority are for rather smaller amounts - but each and every one is very much appreciated.
Comrade SB was one of those who showed their support for the paper via PayPal, but this week three others have done the same: RL and US comrade PM (who also both donate £50 every month), SS, who has just made his first ever contribution (for £25), and MH, whose monthly £10 via PayPal supplements his subscription.
On top of that we received another seven donations either by bank transfer or standing order - thanks go to PB (£70), BO (£35), NH (£30), GD and DV (£25 each), plus SM and CC (£10 each). All that came to £340, which means our total for October now stands at £712. In other words, we’re now just less than a third of the way home, but unfortunately we’re just a few days short of halfway through the month.
So now a bit of acceleration is called for - can you help us out? If you want to play your part, please go to our website to make a donation (by PayPal or credit card) or else make a bank transfer to ‘Weekly Worker’ (sort code 30‑99‑64, account 00744310). And - yes - you can send us a cheque!
Please make sure we can keep raising the money the Weekly Worker needs to keep playing its vital role!
