Generosity
Partying for the paper
Pride of place in the fundraising honours this week goes to the band of London supporters who got together to celebrate the 1,000th issue of the Weekly Worker last week and raised £100 for their paper. Thanks, comrades! And I hear that one of them has agreed to match that amount herself! (I haven’t seen that second £100 yet, but I’m sure it will arrive in time to boost next week’s total.)
I also received a rather nice £50 PayPal donation from BL, who tells me he has finally come into some money, plus £20 from NW using the same method. That’s going to be a monthly donation on top of his subscription. Brilliant! BL and NW were two out of 12,560 online readers last week, by the way.
Then there was a total of £70 in the shape of standing orders (thank you, GD, SM, DV and ST). Finally three cheques came via the post - £40 from JM (added to his £60 annual subscription), plus £25 from HF and £20 from PC.
Thanks to one and all. The £325 raised this week takes our fighting fund running total for March to £556. But despite all that generosity we are lagging behind a little bit. We need £1,500 every month, so we are just over a third of the way there with almost half of March already gone.
Anyone else fancy matching that £100?
