Short of target

Robbie Rix reports on the Weekly Worker fighting fund

Unfortunately we didn’t quite reach our £2,250 fighting fund target for February - we ended up over £100 short on £2,116.

That was despite some very handy donations, totalling £435, that came our way in the last six days of the month - not least £100 each from RG and BB! Next best was DB’s monthly PayPal contribution of £50, followed by two separate donations within days from comrade OG, amounting to £46. Then there was £35 from GT, plus £25 each from JT and MD, £20 from DG, £10 from VP and £6 from TT. All those were either standing orders or bank transfers.

We also received the usual cash donations from LM (£20) and comrade Hassan (£10), and finally I must mention comrade IJDS, who could manage only £3 via PayPal: “I don’t have too much money,” he explained apologetically. However, despite everything, he really appreciates the Weekly Worker: “In theory you’re the best analysts I’ve found in Marxism - ie, scientific socialism,” he writes.

Anyway, let’s hope we can not only reach that £2,250 target in March, but also make up for February’s £134 deficit - we do have an extra three days this month, of course! And after just one day I can tell you that we already have £235.

That’s mainly because of the standing orders we receive on the first of each month. Our thanks to DW (£55), ST (£30), BK and MS (£20 each), plus another 11 contributions, ranging from £6 to £15 - thank you, comrades DC, MM, CP, GB, AN, BG, TM, MT, YM, DI and JS.

As comrade IJDS recognises, we really rely on our supporters to provide the cash we need. So let’s make sure we smash through that barrier this time!
