Within reach

Robbie Rix reports on the Weekly Worker fighting fund

Iam pleased to say that, with almost a week still to go, we’re within reach of our £2,250 fighting fund target for January. Thanks to contributions that amounted to £552 over the last seven days, our running total now stands at £1,984.

But, of course, what we really need to do is make up some of the shortfall that mounted up over the last three months of 2022, so, to be honest, I’d be rather disappointed if we only just got past that £2,250 barrier by next week.

We need to follow the examples of, in particular, SK and PM, who both contributed three-figure (!) donations since my last report. Then there was comrade OG, whose cheque for £86 was an excellent (and very welcome) surprise. There were other cheques from CG (£20) and IR (£10), plus standing orders from DG (£20), GD (£15) and TT (£6). Finally comrade LM handed a £10 note to our editor - matching the one from that regular donor, comrade Hassan!

But now we not only need to reach the monthly target over the next week. We must aim to go shooting past the £266 we still need and eat into that 2022 deficit of no less than £686. The Weekly Worker depends on you, our readers and supporters, and we need you to do your bit right now!

Please make sure we get there by clicking on the PayPal button on our website or - better still - making a bank transfer (sort code 30-99-64, account number 00744310). We can do it!
