Robbie Rix reports on the Weekly Worker fighting fund

With just over a third of the month gone, we’ve received almost exactly a third of what we need to reach our fighting fund target for January. We’ve got £751 towards that £2,250 target - in other words, we’re exactly one pound over the going rate.

But, to be honest, I’m not exactly happy with that figure. As I pointed out last week, we ended the last three months of 2022 with a deficit of £686, so we really do need to start eating into that, if we’re going to raise the finance that the Weekly Worker needs to maintain and improve the quality of this paper.

Anyway, let me thank the comrades who helped us over the last seven days, There were, in particular, excellent donations from RG, who chalked up no less than £100, from Irish comrade AM, whose bank transfer in euros translated into £69, and from TB and RL, who both provided us with £50 via PayPal. Then there were contributions from BO (£35), NH (£30), DV and GD (£25 each), plus £10 gifts from SM, CC and MH.

All good stuff, but now let’s try and do even better. If you fancy helping us out, there are several ways you can do that. You can, of course, send us a cheque payable to Weekly Worker at BCM Box 928, London WC1N 3XX; make a bank transfer (account number 00744310, sort code 30-99-64); or go to weeklyworker.co.uk/worker/donate, where you can make a donation using your credit/debit card or via PayPal.

As I say, we really do need not only to break through that target this month, but to make up some of the 2022 shortfall. Please play your part by donating as soon as you can.
