Successful end?

Robbie Rix reports on the Weekly Worker fighting fund

After the first week of our December fighting fund, we have received £429 towards our £2,250 target.

Quite a bit below par, you might think, but don’t forget that it’s always the same at the start of the month. While there are always lots of standing orders to kick us off (22 of them this week!), they are mainly for more modest amounts than the three-figure donations we often get later in the month.

The most generous this week was from AC (£60), while EW was just behind on £55. Next best was BO (£35), followed by ST and CG (£30 each), GD (£25), MS and BK (£20), MT and RG (£15), TM and BH (£12), MM (£11), plus £10 each from DI, YM, GB, AN, SM and CP. Finally, there were single-figure standing orders from JS, DC and BG. In addition, there was one donation via PayPal, from MH - thanks for the tenner, comrade!

Meanwhile, comrade GB has informed us that he’s going to donate no less than £100 each month, starting now. Brilliant, comrade! But he’s one of many who really appreciate the Weekly Worker’s unique role in trying to move beyond sectarianism in the name of principled Marxist unity.

So now, after two successive months when we fell well short of our target, we need to make sure we get there in December. Would you like to help us in that task? You can send us a cheque (before the Christmas rush!), make a bank transfer (account number 00744310, sort code 30-99-64) or use PayPal or your credit card via our website (weeklyworker.co.uk/worker/donate).

Remember there will be no paper over Christmas and the New Year celebrations. Despite that we still pay our monthly standing order to the printers, so will still need your donations coming in!
