Short again

Robbie Rix reports on the Weekly Worker fighting fund

Despite brilliant last-minute donations, unfortunately we again failed to reach our £2,250 fighting fund target for November. This shortfall is particularly regrettable, because we are faced with additional costs. Crucially, we have agreed to pay our printers more each week so that they can keep up with double-digit inflation when it comes to ink, paper, labour, transport, etc.

Despite that, I do have to thank four comrades in particular for their response to my pleas last week. First, there is BK, who made a magnificent bank transfer of no less than £250! Then there was JC’s £100 transfer, followed by Irish comrade AM, whose €80 translated into £67 this side of the Irish Sea. And finally we had IW, who donated £50 via PayPal just before the deadline.

There were also smaller, but still highly valued, contributions from GT (£35), JT and MD (£25 each), DG (£20), OG (£14), and finally VP, AR and comrade Hassan, who all came up with a tenner. So the total received over the last seven days was £616, taking the final tally for November up to £2,060.

Well, at least we passed the £2K mark (so that was better than last month anyway!), but we were almost £200 short of what we really need.

So we need to step things up considerably in the last month of the year, not only to reach the target in December, but to make up some of the lost ground of the last two months - the total deficit for October and November amounts to just under £500.

Please do your best to help us not only get there, but go crashing through that £2,250 target!

By the way, remember that if you want a package of papers delivered to sell, or simply give out, on the picket line, education meeting or conference, just contact us. If you can cover the postage cost that would be appreciated. The important thing is getting the Weekly Worker to an ever expanding circle of readers and supporters.
