Wipe-out

With three days still to go before the end of March’s fighting fund, we have not only reached our £1,750 target, but completely wiped out the deficit from earlier in the year.

Mind you, since we ended last week on £1,701, only a pessimist of the worse sort would have predicted otherwise! Even though the £245 that came our way over the last seven days was well below the weekly average, our running total for the month now stands at £1,946.

Three comrades donated £50 - thanks to JM for his usual excellent top-up to his annual subscription cheque; to AN for his PayPal gift; and to JT for his regular monthly standing order. Other SOs were from BB, WC and GT (£15 each), SS (£10) and TH (£5). On top of that AL donated a handy £25 via PayPal, while CF came up with a tenner using the same method.

All this means that, if just a couple of generous donations land in our bank or PayPal account, it’s more than possible we could reach £2,000 in a single month - for the first time since I don’t know when. But we are well aware of how much the Weekly Worker is appreciated, so that’s not ruled out at all.

For instance, comrade AL wrote in a note accompanying his PayPal transfer: “Thanks for casting a light on the SWP and [Stand Up To Racism].Who would have thought it?” And he added the usual “Keep up the good work.”

We certainly intend to try, comrade, but that means we need to keep reaching that monthly target! Any more PayPal donors out there? l
