Desperately late

As we enter the last 10 days of our annual Summer Offensive fundraising drive, it is clear that reaching our target of £25,000 will be touch and go. We have received pledges totalling £21,814, but cash actually received is only £14,217. Many supporters have sent in first instalments, while others seem to be keeping their heads down.

Comrades, £25,000 is not a figure we have dreamt up. It represents the minimum we need to achieve the upgrading of our office equipment and printshop in preparation for the general election campaign, which is drawing ever nearer. Those who are still sitting on the cash they have raised to date are leaving it desperately late

This week we have received a welcome donation in kind - a computer from comrade VD in Manchester. And a brilliant £200 from a Berkshire supporter.

But there is no time to waste. We need to get in the cash pledged now. And we need those friends and sympathisers who are still keeping quiet to make up that shortfall. Please do the necessary today.
