Robbie Rix is cracking open the bubbly

Tensions are mounting in our office. Today is the promised launch date for our new Weekly Worker website. Will everything go to plan? Will there be a last-minute hitch? If you’re reading this online you will already know the answer.

As I said last week, we are hoping that the new site will help draw in fresh readers - last week saw above-average numbers (exactly 13,500), so perhaps some thought it was up and running already!

I also pointed out last week that it is the hard cash which keeps coming in for our monthly fighting fund that has helped make the change possible. Hard cash from comrades like RG, who once again posted a fantastic £100 cheque this week. And the PayPal donations from SR (£20) and KW (£15). Not forgetting those standing orders, which this week amounted to £370 (special mention to comrades SK and MM for their usual generosity).

So we received £505 over the last seven days, taking our running total to £1,136. That leaves us well placed to well and truly exceed our £1,500 monthly target. What better way to mark the launch of our new website than helping to ensure we get the extra £364 - and more - we need by next weekend? Feel free to join in the celebrations.
